Welcome to our guide on mastering car battery care for hassle-free travel. At Mach1 Services, we know how important it is to keep your car battery in top condition, especially when you’re on the road and need assistance. In this blog post, we’ll cover everything you need to know about car batteries, from understanding how they work to practical tips for maintaining them properly.

Roadside Power Solutions: Mastering Car Battery Care for Hassle-Free Travel

The Importance of Car Batteries:

Car batteries are essential for your vehicle’s electrical system. They provide power to start the engine and operate important components like lights and air conditioning. Without a working battery, your car won’t start, leaving you stranded. Proper maintenance is key to avoiding this inconvenience.

Understanding Car Battery Basics:

• A car battery stores electrical energy and delivers it to start the engine.
• It consists of lead plates submerged in sulfuric acid.
• When you turn the ignition key, a chemical reaction occurs to produce electricity.
• The battery stabilizes the vehicle’s electrical system, ensuring a consistent power supply.

Maintaining Your Car Battery:

To keep your car battery charged and healthy, follow these simple tips:

• Regularly check battery terminals for corrosion and clean them with a mixture of baking soda and water.
• Securely mount your vehicle’s battery to prevent vibration damage, especially during off-road driving.
• Avoid short trips and idle periods, which can drain the battery without allowing sufficient time for recharging.
• Invest in a quality battery charger and use it periodically, especially if your vehicle sits unused for extended periods.
• Turn off all electrical accessories when the engine is not running to avoid unnecessary battery drain.

Proper Disposal of Car Batteries:

When replacing your car battery, follow these steps for proper disposal:

• Bring the old battery to a designated recycling center or auto parts store that accepts used car batteries.
• Handle the battery with care and avoid tipping or spilling the electrolyte solution, which can harm the environment.
• Obtain a receipt or certificate of disposal from the recycling center as proof of proper battery disposal.

What to Do When Your Car Battery Dies

Imagine this scenario: You’re all set to head out, eagerly anticipating your journey, but when you turn the key, there’s nothing but silence. Your heart sinks as you realize your car battery has given up the ghost. But fret not! We’ve got your back with a comprehensive guide to get you back on track swiftly. Should you ever find yourself stranded with a dead battery, remember, Mach1 Services is your trusted partner in getting your vehicle back in action. For expert assistance with a dead battery, visit their website and let them handle the hassle for you.

Diagnosing the Issue:

A dead car battery is often manifested by the absence of any response when you turn the ignition key, accompanied by a disheartening clicking sound. This clicking is indicative of insufficient power to crank the engine, signaling a likely battery failure. It’s an unmistakable sign that your trusty power source may have reached the end of its life cycle. However, before despair sets in, let’s explore the solutions at hand.

How do I start my car with a dead battery?

Jump-Starting Your Vehicle:
Reviving your car with a dead battery is a simple task with the right equipment and know-how.

Begin by securing a set of jumper cables and enlisting the help of a friend with a functioning vehicle. Position the vehicles so that the batteries are within reach but not in direct contact.
Then, with caution, attach the red cable to the dead battery’s positive (+) terminal, followed by the positive terminal of the working battery.

Next, connect the black cable to the working battery’s negative (-) terminal and then to a metal part of your car’s engine, ensuring it’s away from the battery.
With the connections made, start the working vehicle and let it run for a few minutes, allowing the charge to flow into your battery.

Attempt to start your car; if it springs to life, let it idle for some time to replenish the battery’s charge.

What to do if your car battery has run out?

Replacing the Battery:
Should jump-starting fail to resuscitate your car, it may be a clear sign that a battery replacement is in order.

Begin by procuring a new battery compatible with your vehicle’s specifications.
With the car turned off, pop the hood and commence the replacement process by disconnecting the cables from the old battery, starting with the black (-) one.

Carefully extract the old battery and insert the new one in its place.
Proceed to reconnect the cables, starting with the red (+) one.

Once all connections are secure, close the hood and initiate your vehicle to ensure the new battery functions as expected.

Can a car battery recover from being dead?

While there is a glimmer of hope for a dead car battery to stage a comeback, it’s not always guaranteed. In some cases, a battery may revive if it’s only been discharged for a brief period. However, prolonged disuse or significant damage may render revival futile, necessitating a replacement to restore functionality to your vehicle.

Will a dead car battery recharge?

Indeed, a dead car battery can be recharged, contingent upon various factors such as the battery’s age and condition. Jump-starting your car facilitates the alternator to replenish the battery’s charge as you drive. Nevertheless, if the battery is aged or damaged, it may struggle to retain the charge, warranting a replacement to ensure consistent starting power.

Preventing Future Issues:

To forestall the inconvenience of future dead batteries, adopting proactive measures is paramount. Regularly inspect your battery for signs of corrosion or damage, and diligently maintain clean terminals to ensure optimal connectivity. Exercise prudence by refraining from utilizing electronic devices when the engine is inactive, thereby mitigating the risk of unnecessary battery drain. Additionally, safeguard your battery against extreme temperatures by parking your vehicle in a garage or shaded area whenever possible. For extended periods of inactivity, consider employing a trickle charger to preserve the battery’s charge and stave off complete discharge.

Conclusion:

Dealing with a dead car battery can be a trying ordeal, but armed with the knowledge of remedial measures, you can swiftly navigate through the predicament. Whether it entails jump-starting your vehicle or procuring a replacement battery, knowing the appropriate course of action can spare you undue stress and inconvenience. Moreover, by adopting preventive measures, you can mitigate the likelihood of encountering future battery-related woes. Should you ever find yourself grappling with a dead battery, rest assured, Mach1 Services stands ready to provide expert assistance. Visit their website for comprehensive solutions to address your dead battery woes and get back on the road with confidence.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

When we all started driving we were told to make sure our vehicles had a full tank of gas. And if you’re like me, I usually head to the pump when I’m at 1/4- 1/8 of a tank. But we all make mistakes. There are times I’ve gotten preoccupied and forgot to check the tank, needing an urgent run to the gas station pump. These days most of us are getting three weeks to the gallon #AmIright? And there’s more reason to be curious about getting fuel delivered than just about running out.

Personal safety is important. On the one hand, if you drive on an empty tank you run the risk of overheating your fuel injectors or clogging fuel filters. On the other hand, do you really want to go to the gas station right now?

Can you get gas delivered?

Thank goodness there are options for you when you run out of gas. No one wants to be stranded on the side of the road, and in our current times, we have to weigh our options of heading to the gas station as well. We hope to give you some information that will help you stay safe and help you get on your way quickly and efficiently. First, we’re going to discuss whether Uber will deliver gas to stranded drivers. We’ll also do a deep dive into all of your options to have gas delivered. And then, we’ll talk about if your car will turn on if it has no gasoline. So, please keep reading and remember, keep all of the contact information you need for roadside service in a safe place so that you’ll have it in a pinch.

Will Uber bring you gas?

In these times companies like Uber and their food delivery service, Uber Eats, have expanded their options. You can get just about anything delivered to your doorstep. And thankfully so, it’s nice to take a break from cooking all our quarantine meals.

Unfortunately, though, ride-hailing companies and food delivery companies do not deliver gas to a stalled driver. However, there are other ways to get gasoline delivered to you. We listed a few of the services that will deliver your gas below.

Locations you can call to bring you gas.

Even knowing that there are companies out there to help if you’d run out of gas, you should still consider going to the pump, and checking your fuel tank before heading out. Gas delivery because of the pandemic is one question, but being stranded on the side of the road because you ran out of gas can be dangerous. We’ll explain the fastest and most budget-friendly ways to get help. Below are a few of those options.

Pre-paid Membership of Roadside Assistance

We all know the infamous AAA or other insurance companies like Allstate, USAA or Geico who all offer a pre-paid roadside assistance membership which often includes fuel delivery. These memberships can range from $52 for your most basic to over $119 on an annual basis. Your out-of-fuel service options can vary depending on the type of plan you have. Beware though, you’ll have to sign up for this ahead of time whether you use it or not, and many plan levels will make you pay an extra fee for the fuel itself.

Local gas stations

Some local gas stations that have towing services will have fuel delivery as an option. You’ll have to google to find the closest gas station to your location. Be aware that there may not be a gas station close to you, however. So, it may be safer for you to call another form of roadside assistance such as a non-membership roadside assistance company. The prices for this can vary but often can run you over $100-a-pop.

Free Membership Roadside Assistance

Mach1 is an on-demand roadside assistance company that doesn’t charge a membership fee for gas delivery. You can contact them via their mobile phone app to get gas delivered whether you’re stranded or just want to fill up at home. Prices range from $45- $60 and you only have to pay when you need it. Because they connect you directly to vetted providers, you can contact the provider directly to request more than two gallons. The provider is automatically dispatched to you based on who is the closest to you, making your wait time significantly less. You’ll also be able to see the providers location on a map as he drives to your location. Other services offered range from flat tires, help with dead batteries through mobile mechanic services and even help when you accidentally lock your keys in the car.

State roadside assistance

States such as Indiana and Michigan offer roadside assistance for stranded drivers, but only in some areas. Indiana’s Hoosier Helpers will deliver fuel to stranded drives in central, northwest and southern Indiana. And Michigan’s Freeway Courtesy Patrol will deliver fuel, oil and other system fluids to stranded drivers in southeast Michigan and beyond. Check to see if your state has a courtesy patrol before you leave for that long driving trip. If they do offer roadside service, keep their phone number in a safe place. You may want to check ahead of time for their fees, as some times they’ll just dispatch a provider and you’ll get the bill.

Cellphone roadside assistance

Verizon will bring you up to three free gallons of gas if you choose the roadside assistance option when you sign up for a phone contract. The cell phone provider charges $3 per month for each phone on the account and you pay whether you use the service or not. They use a manual dispatch option which can make wait times exceedingly long.

Will your car turn out without gas?

Yes, you’ll still be able to turn on the electronics, but then you’ll have a bigger problem on your hands if your battery runs dry. So, unless you need to charge your phone in order to call for help, it’s a good idea to turn the car off. And, don’t worry, your emergency flashers will stay on even if the car is turned off. But, if you don’t know what to do when your car runs out of gas, check out our article on the 5 things you can do when your car runs out of gas on the highway.

Going for a drive to get out of the house.

These days many of us are staying home to stay safe and our only option to get out is to go for a drive. It’s a good idea to plan ahead as best we can if we’re going to do this. Creating a free Mach1 account for fuel delivery or other roadside assistance needs takes less than two minutes and is worth your while.

https://www.mach1services.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Going-for-a-drive_.mp4

Final thoughts

We keep hearing these are uncertain times. But there are things we can control. We can control how we save our money but switching from a pre-paid membership to a free one that has even better benefits. We can consider all our options and be smart and savvy consumers. We can make decisions that protect our family, friends, and even colleagues. We can get out for a drive to take a break from our own four walls. We can plan for the unexpected for our vehicles. And we can remember we are more connected now in new ways than we’ve ever been. Stay safe and safe travels!

Mach1 Service Provider App Guide

Being a Mach1 Roadside Assistance Service Provider makes taking calls and servicing customers easy. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do it.

Get Started.

After you’ve downloaded the app and become an “active” provider, click on the Get Started button on the first screen.

2) Permissions.

Please make sure to allow all permission requests, as that is how we will dispatch you and help you get in touch with customers. Choose “Always Allow” on the location request, “Allow” on the notifications, and “OK,” on the final location permission request.

Mark yourself “Available” for taking roadside assistance calls by touching the blue switch on the top right-hand side of your screen. You’ll know you are eligible for taking calls when the bar across the top is green and says, “Available.” You’ll get a push notification dispatching you to a customer when you’re being dispatched. Click on the push notification and next you’ll see the, “Requested Services.” Click the blue “Accept,” button to start the service call and navigation to the customer.

Turn-by-turn navigation will automatically open guiding you to your customer. You can minimize the navigation by hitting the “X” on the lower right-hand corner. With the navigation minimized, you’ll see other options on the map. You can call or text the customer by selecting the “Contact” button on the right. This is will issue a temporary number that you can communicate on while you’re servicing them. When you get to the customer, you mark yourself as “Arrived” in the app. From this screen, you can complete the service. We recommend you review the “safety first” checklist on every call.

6) Service Summary & Notes

From the “You Have Arrived” screen you can click on the blue button that says “Checkout.” This is where you will enter the final dollar amount of the service. Touch the amount and you’ll be able to adjust the price based on the price window. You can also “add service item” by clicking the link in the top right corner. Just remember to make sure you’ve gotten the customer approval before completing any service work outside of the pre-negotiated price window.

7) Invoice, Rating and Service Notes

Once you have confirmed the final price, an invoice will be issued. Have the customer sign the invoice from your device and click confirm. This will transfer the money into your Stripe account, minus the Stripe transaction fee and Mach1 operating fee. The funds will be disbursed into the account you registered within 24 hours (48 rolling hours). After you confirm the invoice, the customer will rate you on a scale of 1-5. You can enter any service notes, and then you’ll see a safe travels message. You’ll be automatically redirected back to the map page where your availability will still be marked as “Available.” If you’d like to take more service calls you will just wait for the next notification. If you’re done taking calls for the day you’ll need to mark yourself “Unavailable,” and you won’t get any more roadside assistance calls.
